Migraine Therapy and Dr. Sullivan Featured in the Harrisburg Patriot News

Dr. Sullivan and Migraine therapy featured in the Harrisburg Patriot News

We are delighted to share the most recent news story on Dr. Sullivan and Keystone Chiropractic Neurology. The Patriot News has just released a feature article about Dr. Sullivan and new treatment options for migraine suffers. In addition to our ongoing clinical trials for migraine therapy, Dr. Sullivan also offers comprehensive treatment plans with the goal of reducing or eliminating chronic migraine headaches.

Dr. Sullivan's Migraine Therapy Article – Patriot News

Migraines strike Cindy White, 37, of Carlisle, with no warning and escalate quickly. They last anywhere from one day to an extreme of 18 and occur four to six times a month, down from a peak of 15 to 20.

That history made the mom of three an instant fan of a new migraine therapy being tested by Dr. David Sullivan, a chiropractic neurologist in Upper Allen Twp. One session with his new treatment and her full-blown migraine was gone within 12 minutes.

“I was blown away by the procedure. It was unreal,” she said, describing it as noninvasive and painless. “It was kind of relaxing. I was astounded. I called my family doctor, my mom, my husband and said you’re not going to believe this.”

Sullivan of Keystone Chiropractic Neurology said the technique involves pressure stimulation around the ear and does not involve any manipulation to the neck or head. He claims it can “eliminate a migraine in a matter of minutes without injections or drugs.”

Sullivan was guarded in releasing more specific information on the method until results from his pilot study of about 20 people are published in the first quarter of the year.

“I don’t claim that this is the cure,” he added. “This new treatment is just one tool in a vast toolbox that we have to treat headaches … but it seems to be a powerful one among many.”

Chiropractic Neurology and Migraine Headaches

Chiropractic neurologists have advanced post-graduate training as experts of the brain, spine and nervous system. Sullivan said medical neurologists mainly prescribe medications or injections, neurosurgeons use surgery to correct a condition and he practices medication-free and non-surgical methods.

Sullivan, who plans to begin a larger study th

is month, said he “stumbled onto a breakthrough” this summer while working with a migraine patient. She mentioned that her symptoms disappeared when she was near a certain piece of equipment at work. Sullivan tried to re-create that situation to get a similar effect from therapy that “we could see and measure,” he said. “It actually worked.”

“Some of these migraine [patients] come in with a raging migraine and within two to three minutes, it’s all gone,” he said of his therapy. “They’re really astonished. To me, it’s like I can’t wrap my head around it.”

White, a lifelong migraine sufferer, regularly takes a half-dozen medications, not including those she uses when she has a migraine. She hopes to use the therapy as a tool to reduce her need for medications.

“The migraines are pretty bad,” she said. “It stinks. I’ve missed kids’ softball games and activities. It’s hard to miss out on life.”

The therapy made her feel “like a whole new person. I could come home and function again,” she said. “To walk out of there and not be bothered by light and sound and go back to my everyday life with no medicine involved is the greatest thing. And, there are no side effects.”

While Sullivan hopes to have other professionals duplicate his successes in their own trials once he’s published, he is ready for the skeptics.

“I fully expect that there will be a hearty critique,” he said. “All they have to do is experience it for themselves and eliminate a migraine in a matter of minutes. If that doesn’t make them a believer, I don’t know what would.”

Helping to reduce the burden of migraine across the world

Sullivan eventually hopes use of the treatment spreads worldwide and beyond his profession.

“This therapy could be taught to many with little training. Any medical doctor, a physical therapist, a nurse can be trained across the world to perform this therapy and eliminate migraines. It takes no extra equipment, no extra expense,” he noted with excitement. “We are trying to change the world here. I’m in solo practice and can only help as many people as I can see in a day. If we can publish our results, it’s successful and spreads, we can help the whole world.”

Migraine sufferers can learn more about participating in Sullivan’s next study on his website, www.keystonechiropracticneurology.com or by calling 717-697-0589.

Exploring new ways to eliminate migraine headaches

For many people like Amy Bowers,

chronic migraines are a major interruption to life. The mother of three said when she gets a migraine headache, she is usually unable to care for her children or go to work.

“When I get them, I’m down for a few days,” she said. “I get nausea, I get blurred vision, tingling in my hands, and it’s awful.”

“When I get them, I’m down for a few days,” she said. “I get nausea, I get blurred vision, tingling in my hands, and it’s awful.”

Bowers said she tried pretty much every thing she could think of to try to get rid of the crippling headaches.

“I was on maintenance medication, I’ve taken prescription pills, I’ve taken over-the-counter pills, I’ve tried the Mountain Dew, the caffeine, the chocolate,” she said.

Nothing seemed to help until she tried a new treatment developed by Dr. David Sullivan of the Keystone Chiropractic Neurology practice in Mechanicsburg.

“My husband drove me in and I had a hood over my head, glasses over my face, could barely walk in,” she said. “Because of what Dr. Sullivan did for me, I was able to walk out the door and go home and resume as if it was a normal day.”

So what exactly is this treatment? Dr. Sullivan couldn’t go into specific details because it is still in the development phase, but explained the therapy uses pressure to treat migraine headaches. He said it is not a cure, but can eliminate the headaches once a patient notices symptoms.

Sullivan said he came up with the therapy after a patient talked about her symptoms going away when she was near a certain machine at work.

“We decided to do some problem solving and what we ended up doing was trying a couple different types of therapies to see if we could reproduce that, and we found this and it actually worked,” Sullivan said.

Dr. Sullivan featured in the Carlisle Sentinel regarding new migraine therapy

Researching migraine, developing new treatments.

Our clinical trials regarding a new all-natural treatment for migraine headaches continues to expand. We are quickly headed toward publication, but the work is far from over. We are still

seeking participants who suffer with chronic migraine headaches in order to document the effectiveness of our new therapy.

Dr. Sullivan was featured in this article, published in the Carlisle Sentinel and on cumberlink.com.

Dr. David Sullivan, the owner of Keystone Chiropractic Neurology in Upper Allen Township, will be the first to say he stumbled upon a new therapy — capable of revolutionizing the field of functional neurology — completely by accident one day while treating a patient for dizziness in his office off South Market Street.

“Medical neurology addresses the illness and treats it with drugs or surgery,” he said. “In functional neurology, we can look at the same brain and nervous system and assess its function and apply specific rehabilitation strategies to change it or make it more normal. It’s life changing work. We’ve found that people have eliminated chronic illness and are living like it never happened.”

Keystone Chiropractic Neurology Announces a Clinical Trial for Migraine Headaches

Migraine Headache Treatment Study is officially open for enrollment.

Dr. David B. Sullivan, chiropractic neurologist, is pleased to announce the launch of a clinical trial aimed at testing the beneficial effects of a cutting-edge treatme

nt for migraine headaches. This continued effort to research new and effective ways to treat migraine headaches is part of the ongoing mission of Keystone Chiropractic Neurology. Dr. Sullivan is delighted to be a part of this effort and hopes to see a vigorous response and involvement from the community.

Migraine Headache Treatment Study

The goal of the study is to determine the effectiveness and benefits of a new type of therapy for migraine headaches. This form of treatment involves pressure stimulation around the ear, it is non-invasive and does not involve any manipulation to the neck or head. Participants will be asked to spend approximately 45 minutes at our office for the study. This will involve a short paperwork form, a brief discussion of the study, and the therapy itself. Each participant will then be asked to be available for telephone follow ups at specific intervals after the treatment.

How to participate in the migraine headache treatment study

If you or someone you know would like to participate in this effort, please contact Alexis at 697-0589. This enrollment will be open for the coming weeks or until we fill all available spots. There is no charge to be a part of this study, and there is no compensation for being a participant either. Participants can call in advance, if they know they are prone to frequent migraine headaches, but pre-registration is not required. Typically, participants can be accommodated in this study with very little advanced notice. Evening and weekend sessions can also be used, depending on circumstances.

Fibromyalgia affects every part of your life, doesn't it?

Fibromyalgia Specialist in Harrisburg PA

Fibromyalgia is a condition which can impact every aspect of your life- and everyone in it.

Perhaps you had the experience to sit with your doctor and have them utter those words which are

the most hope-killing, demoralizing, and burdensome words that someone in chronic pain could hear:

There’s nothing else that can be done for you. You’ll just have to learn to live with it.

If you’ve heard that phrase yourself, you’ve probably just sunk a little deeper in your chair or remembered that lump in your throat. So now, catch your breath and come back

to this moment. We’re going to walk you through this.

Yes, the pain, the fatigue, the fog- it’s all real. You’re not making it up, you’re not faking it. Your spouse knows it, the kids know it, maybe the grandkids know it. Does your doctor know it?

Fibromyalgia is real and you need answers- not just more medication.

So many people have come to our office for care and tell us that they feel down-trodden, they feel like they’re at the end of their rope, or that they’ve given up all hope. Many of them have been to perhaps a dozen or more doctors. And yet, the pain is still there, the fatigue is still crippling and the fog has not lifted. If this sounds like you, or if this describes how your life has been, here is our message of hope to you:

We have lots of ways to help you, and we might be able to make it all go away.

Now, if you’ve never heard that kind of phrase before, you might not even recognize that little feeling that just sprung up. That was HOPE. What you just felt was a sense that things could actually get better. That things could actually change. That this just might be fixable.

Fibromyalgia can be eliminated.

Did you smile yet, seeing those words? Do you feel a little lighter already? You should- it is possible to overcome fibromyalgia.

If you don’t believe me, it’s OK, I understand. If you’ve never been told this, you have a right to be skeptical and not believe it. So don’t take our word for it- listen to all the other people just like you that have overcome it:

Keystone Chiropractic Neurology to announce new migraine study.

Clinical research aimed at the treatment of migraine headaches.

As part of the ongoing mission of Keystone Chiropractic Neurology, Dr. David Sullivan will soon be announcing the start of a new clinical trial which will investigate a new ty

pe of therapy for migraine headaches. This new study, when approved, will be recruiting volunteers who suffer with recurrent migraine headaches, in order to test the effectiveness of this new and exciting approach.

The therapy under investigation is completely drug- and surgery-free and totally non-invasive. It is based upon stimulation of the vestibular apparatus in the ear, and preliminary results show that it has a profound and immediate effect on the symptoms associated with migraine headaches and more.

Migraine headache study to be announced soon

Dr. Sullivan plans to recruit up to 12 participants for the initial study. Each participant will be asked to complete a brief intake document regarding their current and past history of migraine headaches. Previous diagnostic imaging may be obtained for each participant, in order to fully understand the effects of, and response to the new therapy.

Investigating new treatments for migraine

The clinical trial will consist of a one hour long visit to Keystone Chiropractic Neurology, when a participant is having an acute migraine headache. The research staff will be administering the therapies and evaluating their effectiveness on reducing pain levels. This non-invasive approach has never been studied in this way before, and offers an exciting prospect in the development of new treatments and remedies for the pain of migraine headaches.

Dr. Sullivan had this to say about the study:

The human brain is a remarkable and amazing system, but despite all of it’s vast potential, it remains somewhat frail and vulnerable to chronic dysfunction. Our task is to continue to develop new methods and knowledge in order to halt or reverse chronic neurological dysfunction. Because the vestibular system has been shown to be a useful ‘entry point’ to stimulating the brain, I am thrilled at the prospect of developing new ways to stimulate those pathways and help people live with less pain.

Please watch for more information in the coming days, about who might be eligible to participate and how to register.

Chiropractic Neurology is a specialty within the field of chiropractic which focuses on optimizing the function of the brain and nervous system. Electr

Chiropractic neurology differs from medical neurology in numerous critical ways. The medical neurologist will form a diagnosis after a physical assessment of a patient and the results of his or her MRI, CT, electromyography as well as other tests of neurophysiology. The chiropractic neurologist will similarly make use of these advanced diagnostic tests and after an extensive neurological examination of a patient, reach a diagnosis. What happens after that is what really sets the two occupations apart.

Chiropractic neurology – a unique approach to neurological illness

The chiropractic neurologist, once he confirms his diagnosis, will additionally assess the functions that are lost or impaired resulting from the neurological affliction. Then embark on a course of neurological rehabilitation to attempt to bring back lost function or improved diminished function in those regions of the nervous system that are impaired.

Oftentimes the chiropractic neurologist might employ herbal treatments or some other natural materials which behave similarly to prescribed medications, but more typically the chiropractor will employ tactics that utilize reflexes that exist within the nervous system that can often be used to further improve or restore impaired function.
